Papers of Alderman and recruiting officer Otis Norcross relating to the recruitment of soldiers from Boston's Ward Five during the Civil War. Included are bounty checks made out to volunteers, lists of recruits and of those who furnished substitutes, and a draft of a letter from Norcross to Governor John A. Andrew.
